Is it safe to email your drivers license or social security card?

i work in the human resources department at my job. i get emails all day with drivers license and social security card, as well as many other people receive the same emails. how is this legal (are they not afraid of identity theft) ??|||There is no law which states that a person cannot email their driver's license # or SSN or any other number. A person just needs to be careful who they give this information to. If they are applying for a job they need to provide their SSN. I have no problem, for example, giving out a credit card # if I am ordering something - it isn't any different than giving it out to a store clerk. A person should have a darn good password or change it once a month to be on the safe side. What's really unsafe is carrying your social security card with you in your wallet - it should be kept home where it is safe (I retired from Social Security).|||No, an email never dissapears from the internet online web it will never get deleated, especially picture. Try not to put any personal info online unless it is for a job application or government website
