How can I see if my email security has been compromised?

I came into my email today, and found that one of my emails had been read. I wonder if someone has hacked into my email. I changed my password again. Is there a way to track if and who got into my email?

d|||There's no way to see if someone has read an email unless you have direct access to the email server's logs.

So, if the email server is at your work.. then this may be possible if they are logging logins to the email accounts (which they probably aren't).

Most likely you either have given someone access to your account (such as logging in at their computer and saving your info) or you have some auto feature on that is marking it as read after X seconds.

If you are using a web based email program like yahoo, gmail, hotmail... etc.. I suggest you check your settings and make sure that noone has setup a forwarding or secondary email address onto your account and that you not only change the password to something very strong (minimum 8 characters.. using uppercase, lowercase, numbers, AND special characters) AND you change your security questions and answers.

If you continue to have a problem I suggest you contact the technical support or abuse department of your email provider.

Good Luck|||nope. you don't even give us any email info, so no help for you. bye.|||if you have a email log file, you can see what ip address was used to log in to your account. And also you can see the date and time your account was hacked.|||also be sure to set a password that nobody will guess. Sporting teams and pet names aren't a good idea.
